Canadien taxi driver murders: Gisèle Minhas

32-year-old Gisèle Minhas was the dam of three young children 14, 11 and 9 years old. In June 2004 she also took the decision to try a taxi ride in order to make a little more cash. Mrs Minhas' Mother, Roseline Martin, talked to her on Wednesday 30 June at 6 pm.

Minnas had worked 21 even days since she entered Air Cab, and said to her mom that the next layer would be her last before she took the week-end off. Minhas took her husband's taxi at noon. Around 4:30 a.m. colleagues saw her driving past the Chateau Moncton with a co-driver in the front seats, but could not tell whether the co-driver was a man or a woman.

She was found at 5:20 am on the sidewalk behind an appartment house on Gauvin Road in Dieppe area. Their taxi was found a few block further east along Gauvin Road in a moat behind a lane car park. An 18-year-old Moncton man was imprisoned early Friday night, and a 20-year-old Sackville man was also imprisoned a while later.

The following Tuesday, a Roman Catholics memorial ceremony took place in Baie Ste. Anne, the home of Mrs. Minhas. There was a Moslem church mass later that year. Over 70 cabs from Saint John, Fredericton and Moncton took part in the grief ride.
