On Tuesday, Woody Johnson used his first ambassadorial address to highlight the long-standing relationship between the UK and the US - links that Brexit would not affect. The 70-year-old millionaire, the proprietor of the New York Jets American football teams, said in a talk at Middle Temple Hall at the Pilgrims of Great Britain's U.S. friend society's anniversary lectures that Britain would always have a "strong and dependable trading partner" in the United States.

He said the mood was divided by Mr Trump - and noted that the presidency ordered the reintroduction of a sculpture of Winston Churchill in the Oval Office, aft Barack Obama had separate her, and invited Theresa May to be the point ruler to meeting him in the White House.
