Jets Owner

Launched in 1959 as Titans of New York, a founding member of the American Football League (AFL), the AFL formed the AFL-NFL in 1970 to merge with the NFL. In 1963, under new owners, the present name was adopted and the deductible was transferred to the Shea Stadium in 1964 and to the Meadowlands Sports Complex in 1984.

Jets first entered the play-offs in 1968 and then competed in the Super Bowl III against the Baltimore Colts, where they became the first AFL side to beat an NFL nightclub in an AFL NFL World Cup match. Since 1968, the jets have been represented 13 x in the Playoffs and four x in the AFC Championship Game, most recently against the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2010.

The jets never made it back to the Super Bowl, however, so they are one of three NFL crews to triumph over their only Super Bowl performance, along with the New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Except for the Cleveland Browns and Detroit Lions, who never achieved the Super Bowl (although both won NFL Nationals before 1966), the jet aridity is the longest among the NFL slots today. Jets tended further down before celebrating a number of triumphs in the eighties, including an AFC Championship Game performance in 1982 and the creation of the beloved New York Sack Exchange. Jets are coloured hunting greens and whites. On each side of the crest and on the front of the shirt, through the player's shoulders on the leftside, the main logotype is a verdant ovals with the words "JETS" in thick serifless whites about "NY" in serious type and a mini foosball print in the middle at the bottom.

Originals of the team's uniform, such as the New York titans of 1960, were marine with old golden numbers, golden trousers with two parallels on each side and marine helms with a central golden strip and no logos. In 1963, when the Titans became the jets, Marine and Golden were given up in favour of Kelley Greens and Whites.

Each side had a blue nozzle aeroplane skyline, with the words "JETS" in thick red without serifless cursive writing along the body. By 1964, the individual strip of grass became two strips in tandem, and the Jet-Plane sticker was superseded by a blank, landscaped soccer form, with the words "JETS" in thick un -serifed grass greens in front of "NY" in grass greens and a small soccer ball in the middle below.

In 1978 the first big changes in jet designs took place. Colours remained celly greens and whites; the new helms were continuous greens with whites face masks and a stylised "JETS" word mark in whites on each side. 1990 the jets changed this style by creating thin contours of blacks on the numbers, inscriptions, strips and stickers on the helms, switching face masks from whites to blacks and added a pair of shorts of green trousers to be wore with the whites.

In 1998 the Jets adopted their latest uniforms and logos. Jets were the first NFL squad to dress in a threatback suit in 1993 for a home match against the Cincinnati Bengals to celebrate the twenty-fifth birthday of the 1968 Masters. As part of the NFL's 75-year jubilee celebrations in 1994, the jets worn both home and street models of this uniforms in selected matches, again with their normal 1965-77 blue hats, but with two black stripe in the middle.

During 2007, the squad launched a new "throwback" outfit reminiscent of the New York Titans, featuring features of 1960s and 1961-62s New York suits, marine blues and shirts, old golden numbers and crest bands, golden and blank shoulders and golden trousers with blues and whites on each side.

Those uniform reappeared in 2008, 2009 and 2011, with a leotard of leotard again showing up in 2009 as part of the NFL's celebrations to mark the American Football League's fiftieth year. The JetBlue honours the NY Jets with its verdant surface. Initially called the Jets Flag Crew, the crew was formed in 2006.

76 ] In 2007 the group was expanded and accordingly re-named Jets Flight Crew. The promotion of a jet match is the responsibility of the production networks for that match (either WCBS or WNBC), which is also broadcast simultaneously by NFLNet. Here is an incomplete listing of the last five complete jets years.

Ewbank, Martin, Maynard and Namath are recognised for their performance with the jets. 83 ] Baugh and Turner are recognised for their performance as player with other team and not as chief coach with the jets.

84 ][85] While Parcells turned the fate of the jets around, he had great influence on the New York Giants and trained them to two Super Bowl wins. Wolf only had a brief sojourn with the jets between 1990 and 1991, while most of his important roles as Managing and Players Human Resources Manager came from the Oakland Raiders (1963-1974, 1979-1989) and later as General Manager of the Green Bay Packers (1991-2001).
