Decades ago, very lightweight aircraft (VLJs) were a catchword in the aerospace industry as aircraft makers saw the enormous promise of small, effective and easy to operate aircraft. However, there are several outstanding nozzles on the marked today. The Cirrus Vision is probably the best lightweight jet on our roster and the only certificated mono jet available to the general public. The Cirrus Vision is the only jet with a unique design.

Further developed from the best-selling Cirrus SR22 reciprocating aircraft, the Vision is proving to be a favorite with Cirrus existing clients looking to enter the jet market. Similar to its little sibling, the SF50 has a basic single-lever butterfly with computer power plant control and even a full cabin canopy. Constructed from a scratch-resistant lightweight jet manufactured by the Brasilian aircraft manufacturer, the ultra-simple lightweight jet was clearly developed taking into account the experience gained from its extremely succesful range of local jetliners.

embraer says the Phenom has 70 per cent fewer promotions on its check list than other lightweight planes. With the introduction of the Citation Mustang, Cessna gained a firm foothold among the competition in the lightweight aviation world. It' s still driven by a turbo drive, and because it is quicker and has almost twice the cruising distance of the Cirrus Vision, this plane merits a place in the rankings.

An extremely lightweight jet (VLJ), entry-level jet or personnel jet,[1] formerly known as a micro jet, is a class of small commercial jet for four to eight passengers and often with a max take-off mass of or below 10,000 lbs (4,540 kg),[2][3][4], although the Embraer Phenom 100, HondaJet and Cessna Citation M2 are all slightly overloaded.

The VLJ is regarded as the most light weight commercial jet and is certified for piloted use. Virtual airliners are designed to have lower operational cost than traditional jet aircraft and can be operated from a runway up to 3,000 ft (910 m), either for face-to-face or point-to-point use.
