Glimpse first: Apple's 2018 13" MacBook Pro with Touch Bar

The new 2018 13-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar is ready for trial after orders for Apple's latest pro notebook went online on Thursday. Continue reading for our first look at each new featured features, benchmarking the new quad-core CPU and comparing it with a top MacBook Pro 2017 15 inch.

Because Apple hasn't made any changes to the MacBook's top line of designs, the look is totally the same. MacBook Pro 2018's treacherous click sound on the keypad is dampened in comparison to last year's 13-inch basic MacBook Pro 2018 with second-generation Buttons. The MacBook Pro 2018 features a Touch Bar and Touch ID, the latter of which is handy for signing in and purchasing Apple Pay products now.

In addition, it is equipped with Apple's famous Apple 2-t T2 chips, which essentially combine several system controller in one and bring "Hey Siri" to the new MacBook for the first orever. Following a short set-up process asking a users to reread a phrase, we tried Hey Siri by asking her a few question.

Siri will be even more efficient as soon as it releases it, as the next OS will integrate HomeKit device controls via the HomePad. True Tone is another all-new function that uses environmental lighting to measure the colours on the screen. MacBook Pro 2018 is the first Mac to get this function, and it works as announced.

The 13-inch MacBook Pro this year is the first MacBook Pro to feature a quad-core CPU. What's more, it's the first MacBook Pro to feature a quad-core CPU. The test bench is a basic Intel Intels Core 5 eighth generating 2.3GHz processors with support for 3.8GHz Intel Express boosts. Geekbench 4 gave the notebook 4,602 points for single-core and 16,699 points for multi-core, an enormous improvement over last year's series.

The 2017 13-inch MacBook Pro without touch bar offers single and multi-core 4,524 and 9,484 respectively. Even more striking, perhaps, is the fact that the new 13-incher surpasses a top of the range MacBook Pro 2016 with Intel 2. Performing the same test on our 2017 13-inch basic Iris Plus 640 with the same test, there are some improvements, but frankly not so much, with corresponding values of 30,983 and 32,831.

However, our 2016 15-inch MacBook Per scored 48,081 points, a significantly higher value than the new 13-inch MacBook Per. Obviously, this new quad-core processor is more efficient than MacBook Plus CPUs, consuming more energy. Apple has extended your batteries by 18% over last year's Touch Bar to provide a consistent uptime.

This corresponds approximately to the basic business unit of the previous year. Apple's new MacBook Pro is evolving into one of the largest non-design upgrade releases of recent years, but there's much more to do.
