Hopper's Airfare Estimator application now provides exclusively 'secret fares'.

Hopper, a start-up that uses historic information to give you the best timing to buy an airline pass, works with a fistful of carriers to offer discount travel that is claimed to be exclusively for the Hopper experience. The new service, named Secrets Fare, is offered in partnership with Air Canada, LATAM, Turkish, WestJet, Copa and Air China and is available on 60,000 worldwide outings.

Hopper was established in 2010 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and devoted much of its early years to searching and filing billions of air fares - information it would later use for its prediction algorithm. It is a widespread mistake that air fares are always rising, but this is not the case - often carriers initially assess their fares in a conservative way and later lower them according to market demands.

It is these datapoints that Hopper uses to determine when you should press the shutter button and make your reservation. With $83 million in funds, Hopper has doubled his effort to expand hotel operations and introduce virtual intelligentsia (AI) to promote goals. Secretary fares are the next evolution in Hopper's quest to distinguish itself from the countless tour reservation uses, and these rates mean rebates of up to 35 per cent.

This table was provided by the carrier to show some current clandestine tariffs during a test run of the services. Hopper will inform the users about the existence of hidden tariffs when they choose a certain itinerary ( e.g. San Francisco to Tokyo). Usually the traveler has the possibility to follow a journey for several month, but can also immediately make a booking if he sees the ticket "Exclusive price".

So, what's with the classified rates, and why are they Hopper-only? Hopper has grown to become one of the leading downloadable reservation applications in North America. He also said that it has recently exceeded the $600 million in revenue since its creation, of which $500 million came last year.

20 per cent of these revenues are now earned from AI referrals, which are sent as pushed alerts directly to a user's cell phones. Hopper thus generates effective proactive revenues by proposing travel. To put it succinctly, Hopper now has a significant influence on carriers. Should an air carrier offer such rebates via the normal on-line channel, Hopper assumes that this would result in a tariff dispute with rivals.

However, carriers do not want to perform pricing matches, so they may be more likely to make better offers in a confined space such as the Hopper application. Hidden rates are now available for all hopper applications in North America.
