South West Airlines Co. is a large U.S. based Dallas, Texas-based U.S. air transportation company and is the biggest low-cost carriers in the United States. Founded in 1967 by Herb Kelleher[2] as Air Southwest Co., the company received its present name, Southwest Airlines Co., in 1971 when it became a domestic company fully operational in the State of Texas, the first service between Dallas and San Antonio.

3 ] As of March 2018, the carrier had more than 57,000 employees[update] and operated more than 4,000 daily flights in the mainison. From 2014 it transported most inland passenger of all US airlines. Since September 2018, Southwest Airlines has operated flights to 99 US and ten other country locations, with flights to Turks & Caicos commencing on November 5, 2017.

Previous catchphrases are: "Love is still our territory", "Just Plane Smart", "The Somebody Else Up There Who Links You", "You're Now Free To Move About The Country", "THE Low Fare Airline", "Schnapp dir deine Tasche, It's On!" and "Welcome Aboard. "Favourable fares" is the airline's motto. "On 17 September 2012, Southwest laid the foundation stone for a new Training and Operational Support (TOPS) facility.

Southwest laid the foundation stone for its new Wings offices and trainings centre on 2 June 2016. LEAD Center has the capacities to accommodate and supervise 18 flightsimulators. It was inaugurated on 3 April 2018[16]. Workers in the south-west are usually members of a tradeunion. Thusuthwest Airlines Pilots' Association, a non-Air Line Pilot Association member, acts on behalf of the airline's airlines pilot.

Timetable planners, cabin attendants, ramp operatives and operating operatives are members of the Transport Workers Union (TWU). The southwest has been fighting against the creation of a high-speed railway system in Texas. It was the same one Southwest Airlines used 20 years ago to gain a foothold in the Texas merchant ship service business where it operated the same city.

Since September 2018[update] Southwest Airlines has served 99 routes in 40 states, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. The southwest does not use the hub-and-spoke system of other large airlines, but the point-to-point system, in combination with a " rolled hubs " system in the bigger city.

South West is not currently cooperating with any other carrier. <font color="#c400c4">(newscaster) ATA Airlines: Away from its time-honored "go it alone" approach, Southwest concluded its first ever national code-sharing deal with ATA, enabling Southwest Airlines to service ATA destinations in Hawaii, Washington, D.C. and New York City. West-Jet Airlines: Southwest Airlines on July 8, 2008 announced the signing of a code share with WestJet of Canada, allowing the two airlines to offer tickets for each other's services.

On 16 April 2010 the airlines of Southwest and WestJet reached an amicable settlement to end the transposition of a code share between the two airlines. Following the acquisition of AirTran Airways in 2011, Southwest Airlines and AirTran Airways took the first steps towards linking their network on January 26, 2013, providing a small number of joint routes in five countries.

AirTran was fully incorporated into the Southwest on 28 December 2014 and the arrangement ended. Southwest Airlines has almost entirely owned Boeing 737s since it was established (with the exception of a brief spell during which it rented and flown some Boeing 727-200 aircraft). South West Airlines is the world's biggest Boeing 737 carrier and was the first carrier of the 737-300, 737-500, 737-700, 737-700 and 737 MAX 8. South West Airlines will also be the first carrier of the 737 MAX 7.

South West launched the January 16, 2001 addition of the cyan paint, the first paint modification in Southwest's then 30-year old heritage. In the second painting the former basic colour "Desert Gold" is replaced by "Canyon Blue" and the southwest text and the pin stripes are changed to golden. A more curvaceous design was used to draw the needle stripe along the plane rather than the linear horizontally that separates the colours in the originals.

On airplanes with mixed wingtips the mixed wingtips were varnished with the text Southwest. com. In early 2010, Southwest finished re-painting the whole fleet with the new "Canyon Blue" paint finish; Southwest Classic (N714CB), The Herbert D. Kelleher (N711HK) and N792SW (the last Boeing plane to be supplied in its factory paint finish and now refinished to Heart), which are Boeing 737-700s, maintained a simpler copy of the factory "Desert Gold" paint finish.

At the rear, the bright green band turns green; both the green and green bands are now magnified in the opposite design; and the airplane's waist is now dark brown with a hearts that has been a southwest icon in its 43-year old story. In addition, the pinstripe is transformed into a silver-gray; and the now whitewashed text to the southwest has been shifted to the front of the hull.

Labeling is done in a Monotype Southwest Sans typeface. After the 737-200s were decommissioned in the southwest, the 737-500s began to remain in a smaller geographical area formerly occupied by the 737-200s, and as such Sea World no longer received optimum domestic exposition from these two planes.

South West works with a singular board-ing-procedure. At Southwest, we have outstanding levels of client contentment; according to the Department of Transportation (DOT), Southwest is the number one (lowest number of complaints) among all US airlines for client complaint. South West Airlines has always obtained the smallest complaint per passenger rate of any large U.S. carrier that has reported stats to the DOT since 1987, when the DOT began to track consumer happiness stats and publish its Air Travel Consumer Report.

Southwest Airlines' planes are all fitted with Wi-Fi, free streamed TV and on-demand movie service for a small surcharge. Following the completion of a test period that began in February 2009, Southwest on August 21, 2009 announces that Southwest will begin introducing a WLAN connection during travel over Global Eagle Entertainment's satellite-based broad-band entertainment solution.

In the first three months of 2010, Southwest began to expand its airplane with Wi-Fi. Launched in the spring of 2012, the carrier began to test stream ed TV and in January 2013, started to test TV on-demand. From 2017, free Wi-Fi Wi-Fi Wi-Fi Wi-Fi feeds for real-time real-time information and real-time videos will be available to all air travelers. Full Wi-Fi connectivity will be free of charge for frequent flyers and free of charge for A-List Preferred Rapid Rewards members.

Southwest presented a refurbishment scheme for its aircraft on 17 January 2012. 100 ] Although not initially foreseen, Southwest was able to add an additional seat tier to its aircraft to savepace. Southwest presented its latest Interieur, the so-called Heart Interieur, on 20 June 2016.
