At the end of May, the Dubbo Council filed a lawsuit in the Supreme Court against JetGo Australia for more than $270,000 in outstanding charges against the company.

On June 1, all departures were canceled, resulting in more than 10,000 clients tracking $4 million in rebates. Full scale of the local airline's debts was disclosed at a creditors' assembly last weekend as $17 million certified, but may be higher. The company flew from Dubbo, Wollongong and Albury in NSW, Townsville and Rockhampton in Queensland and Karratha in Western Australia.

They are the only airlines linking these localities with Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Melbourne. "When I have another option to work in another place where there is a one-way ticket, I will take that into account because taking two tickets is a nuisance and also more costly. "When JetGo can return to duty, it would be lovely. "RAAA said there needs to be more NSW government assistance for local airlines.

Mike Higgins, CEO, said it was very challenging for local airlines to make a profit. What's more, the airline's business is very competitive. Mr Higgins said it was challenging for local airlines to be lucrative for smaller airlines. "In order to stay alive, we need high utilization rates, i.e. the plane must be almost full, if not full, on every single outing.

"Regarding the funding, I think the Queensland government is setting the standard by awarding grants for lines through isolated towns. "Let me urge other state authorities to work with the Queensland government to see what kind of advantages this type of capital expenditure can offer. "Qantas has been offering discounted rates to JetGo ticket holders who were traveling in June.

According to a company speaker, several hundred travellers have already used their discount tariff to buy spare seats. "Tariffs are available until June 30 because JetGo said for so long that they would be in the administration," the speaker said.
