Cheap Air Travel Domestic

Inexpensive domestic air travel

Additional bonus are shorter lines at the airport. Best data for the flight in 2017 According to an analyse of my fare figures, 2017 seems to be a very good year for domestic and European travel. Please take the following into account if you are planning to travel in 2017. Warning: No forecasts are sure -fire because they depend on so many different factors, such as the cost of fuel (which can rise) and/or the need for flight schedules - but that's what we know at the moment.

Below are some low cost flight samples for your January travel (return flight prices can be found on the Getaway Map of my January travel website on 21 December). I wrote about the exceptionally cheap flight to Europe for autumn/winter travel early this year, and we will see that the good rates will last also in 2017, but the big novelty are the European offers for summers that are now available.

That is what my recent analyses now show, and the rates are round-trip fares: Not the only place to do business with Europe is the East Coast; I recently saw an amazing price to London in June - $544 roundtrip - from Los Angeles. When you want to travel to Europe this summers, throw away the rules that say you have to delay until five month before your start because the offers are now available.

Find cheap airfares in Colombia and start saving cash

In Colombia domestic air travel can be quite cheap, so it is relatively cheap to travel between the big Colombian towns. It is recommended to book at least two week in advanced to find the cheapest flight. In Colombia busses can be even less expensive. From Medellín, for example, it can take up to 10 hrs to get to Bogotá.

However, by air the journey from Medellín to Bogotá only takes about 40min. The domestic fare in Colombia was a little more costly than I began to live in Medellín more than seven years ago. However, domestic fares fell when low-cost carrier VivaColombia began operations in Colombia in 2012, now known as VivaAir.

It is now possible to find cheap air travel between the Colombian towns due to increased competitive pressure. Inexpensive domestic air travel has been added to our 14 surprise items in Medellín for expatriates. See the above photograph of an Avianca Airbus A318 at José María Córdova International Airports in Medellín by Andrés Ramírez.

The Avianca is the biggest air company in Colombia with the most flight in the state. The company operates more than 100 non-stop services in 26 different markets. It has almost 6,000 departures a week with a total of 172 planes. When you use Avianca for domestic travel in Colombia, when you want cheap travel, make a booking on Avianca's website as if you were in Colombia and make your payment in US cents.

When you do, you get a rate that can be 50 per cent less (or even cheaper) than making a US dollar reservation in the United States. In order to do this, just select the desired land on the website of Avianca at the top of the website as Colombia. At the beginning of this year, for example, I flown with this technique on Avianca from Medellín to Bogotá for only 70 dollar return flight.

At the end of last year, I left Medellín for Cartagena for less than a $100 return flight. In order to use this methodology, you must inform your payment processor that you are in Colombia, even if you are not. Within two week I verified the price for the return journey to Bogotá from Medellín to Avianca.

Lowest cost in the city was 276,580 US dollars ($94) return. Compared to this, the cost of the Expresso Bolivariano from Medellin to Bogotá on the same days was 136,000 people. Well, about 50 per cent less on the coach than with Avianca. For Avianca flights, I suggest you participate in the Lifemiles programme.

I' ve been a member of Life Miles for almost 10 years and have got many free floats. And Avianca is a member of the Star Alliance. You can use LIFEMILLES to receive free travel on more than 25 carriers, among them Air Canada, United, Lufthansa, Swiss and many others. Headquartered in Colombia, VivaAir is a low-cost carrier that began operations in 2012 and was initially renamed VivaColombia.

In my opinion, it is possible to travel on VivaAir from Medellín to Bogotá for less than $65 return and from Medellín to Cartagena for less than $100 return. Exercise caution with VivaAir. So travel easily if you want a cheap plane. In addition, VivaAir has not allocated seating unless you are paying for it.

Within two week I searched for a flight for a round tour to Bogotá from Medellín with VivaAir, the best price was 186.172esos. VivaAir has a charge of 85,800 US dollars per piece of luggage and a hand luggage charge of 88,000 US dollars for anything but a private object with a max of 6 kg (about 13 pounds).

So if you expect to travel with a piece of hold luggage and a bigger piece of hand luggage, the overall price for VivaAir is 359,972 people. It is higher than the rate stated above on Avianca, which does not apply to hold luggage or additional carry-on luggage over and above your own luggage. It is sometimes possible to impose penalties on cheap tickets bought in anticipation on VivaAir that are less expensive than coach ticket prices if you do not have luggage charges.

Sometimes VivaAir also promotes large revenues. I only flew VivaAir a few a time. The reason for this is that if I take into account luggage fees, I have found that Avianca is usually cheaper for domestic than VivaAir. Further domestic destinations in Colombia are ADA, Easyfly and Satena flying from Medellín's Olaya Herrera Airport (EOH).

Each of these three carriers flies smaller aircraft than Avianca or VivaAir. You can find cheap air fares with these smaller carriers. Of these five companies I flew only with Easyfly on a plane from Medellín (EOH) to Bucaramanga. And LATAM is another carrier with domestic services in Colombia.

LATAM operates domestic services from Medellín José María Córdova (MDE) to Bogotá, Cartagena, San Andrés and Santa Marta. There are two main aerodromes in Medellín. Medellín Rionegro's José María Córdova Municipal Domestic Development Authority (MDE) is the second biggest Colombian regional development agency. Avianca, VivaAir and LATAM operate domestic services to nine Colombian cities: Barranquilla, Bogotá, Bucaramanga, Cali, Cartagena, Cúcuta, Monteria, San Andrés and Santa Marta.

Easyfly and Satena provide domestic air services directly from Olaya Herrera (EOH) Airport in Medellín ADA to 18 different Colombian cities: Acandi, Apartadó, Armenia, Bahia Solano, Bogotá, Bucaramanga, Caucasia, Condoto, Corozal, El Bagre, Ibaqué, La Macarena (charter), Manizales, Monteria, Nuqui, Pereira, Quibdó and Tolú. In order to get to some of Colombia's towns like Pasto de Medellín, you have to join up in another town like Bogotá.

It has the biggest international airfield in Colombia. It has more national non-stop possibilities. Some information has already been provided on how to get to Medellín from Medellín aerodromes. By making reservations in advance, you can find cheap flights to domestic destinations in Colombia. It is recommended that you make your domestic reservations at least two week in advanced to find cheap travel.

Further in ahead you will often find even lower priced tickets. In the last four years I have flew over 25 domestic trips in Colombia to over 10 different towns and never more than 150 dollars return. However, on each of these trips I book two or more week in advanced.

It is very important to make reservations in order to get better rates for cheap air travel. And we have also investigated how to find cheap tickets for Medellín and Colombia. Furthermore, "How to find cheap airfares in Colombia" is a frequent issue for expatriates. Therefore we have added this issue to our Medellín frequent asked questionnaire (FAQ).
