The Hopper is the best way to make a flight reservation.

Purchasing a plane ticket is much more complex than it should be. Airlines sites are nasty and intricate, and you can quite accurately forgot to buy a ticket on your smart phone quickly and simply. That'?s what Hopper's trying to fix. It' already a great iPhone app that finds the lowest prices, and on Monday it not only comes to Android for the first of its kind, but also gets a long-awaited feature: the possibility to make reservations without having to leave the app.

When you are not familiar with Hopper, learn how it works here: Tell the app where it wants to go, and it'll show you a schedule with prices for return trips on different itineraries. Pick your desired return flight and either make your booking now or view the itinerary.

If you decide to track the journey, Hopper will notify you when the rate is about to fall and inform you of the date you should make the reservation before the rate rises. Mr Hopper tells Tech Insider that a standard US consumer will save about 50 US dollars (and in some cases as much as 1,300 US dollars) per flight.

I' ve been using Hopper for a few flight in the last few month and it was really good to tell me the right moment to make the reservation. It' definitely my go-to app when it comes to purchasing airfare. Historically, Hopper, like some of the other third-party applications, has sent you to an outside carrier to make a reservation after you have chosen a flight.

The app now has a function named QuickTap Bookings that allows you to make bookings in just a few steps without having to exit the app. The Hopper gave Tech Insider a demonstration of the function, and it took about 10 seconds to choose a flight, append additional passengers and make the payments.

Most importantly, Hopper still needs to be integrated with FFPs and additional flight choices such as seating and up-grades. Hopper and Tech Insider are currently working on both functions and will appear in a forthcoming app upgrade, Hopper senior management tells Tech Insider. At the moment, you can use the flight verification key sent to your e-mail address on an air carrier website to attach these flight verification codes.

You should use Hopper only for monitoring prices even if you are not using QuickTap bookings. Flight recommendation of the app is based on algorithmic scanning of all important airline companies and years of flight information to identify trend in flight prices. The Hopper is free to be downloaded and used, but a $5 fee that goes to the airline will be used for the flight you make through the app.

This seems to be a fairly good deal if you potentially save yourself several hundred bucks on your flight.
