How high are the taxi prices? Where can I find a taxi?

Taxis in London are high. But if you are traveling alone, it is almost certainly better to take a subway or London coach, because you can blast ten quid in ten minute if you are traveling only a single miles between Trafalgar Square and St. Paul's. Taxis can vary a lot according to daytime and luck with transport (which can be quite terrible in the centre of London).

All this is taken into consideration in the above chart - the highest displayed price is the one that includes 20%. A London taxi costs an additional 4 if you are travelling over the Christmas or New Year periods - 24, 25, 26, 27, 31 December and 1 January.

Tipping 10% is an often cited number, but most folks will simply round up to the next lb or 5 so the taxi operator doesn't have to be rooted around. Notice: If you pollute the taxi for any cause (the common cause is because you are drunk), the taxi operator will bill you an additional 40 pounds to have it washed.

Does Taxi's Receive Major Credit Lines? Negro taxi drivers take payment by bank transfer or money. Could you bargain for a better price? However, the only difference is if your taxi ride is outside the centre of London, in which case the taxi rider might be willing to arrange a charge with you - but is not obliged to do so.

When you want the security of a solid tariff, then you should really use a mini cab. What is the number of passengers in a taxi? The price of taxi is lower if you travel in a group of three or more persons. This is because London cabs can accommodate up to five passengers and you are paying only one price between all five of them.

The forward directed sofas can accommodate three persons and the folding chairs (the folding seats) two additional persons. Every taxi is handicapped-accessible and all modern cabs are available in full colour. Drivers can place a platform between the bottom of the vehicle and the road so that you can drive up and place your chair in it.

Note that prebooking a taxi in Advance adds a few extra lbs to the counter before you do. Calling a taxi in London is simple. Either mark it on the road or look for a taxi stand in front of an international base, a favourite holiday destination or most major long-distance railway stops (National Railstations such as Euston, King's Cross, Liverpool St, Paddington and Victoria).

As a rule, underground railway stops do not have taxi stands. Taxi services should be available when the yellow "Taxi" label on the rooftop is illuminated. Two major distinctions exist between the Schwarztaxi services and the miniabs. The taxis are those shown in the above picture, with an Orange "Taxi" lamp on the rooftop.

As a rule, they are lacquered completely new. Taxis are all fitted with parking metres so you can see exactly how much you are paying while driving. Drivers may be able to give you a general indication of the price before you start, but you will not know the price until you have reached your goal.

When your travel in transport lasts longer, then the amount you are paying increases. Mini cabs seldom have a metre inside and tended to offer you a grand total before you do. When you want the security of a set tariff, you are better off with a mini cab. The last distinction is the incorporation of a glazed dividing wall between rider and passenger.

Taxis have these. Could a taxi not take me? Except for good cause (i.e. you are drunk), a taxi operator is required to take any trip of up to twelve mile from the pick-up point or within an hour's drive, provided the final point of the trip is within Greater London.

You should also allow a trip of up to 20 mile when it begins at Heathrow Airport. Losing something in a London taxi (but not a minicab) is handled by the Transport for London's Lost Property Office at 200 Baker Street.
