Mitsubishi started with the Mitsubishi MU-2 airplanes, which it designed for freight operation. Murray Air and its affiliate Murray Aviation fused in April 2005 under the new Part 121 certification from Murray Air. In December 2008, after the carrier was taken over by National Air cargo, Murray Air renamed itself National Airlines and became the National Air Cargo Group, Inc.

Formerly, National Airlines operated charter ed regular passengers services from Oakland County International Airport to Kokomo Municipal Airport in Kokomo, Indiana, Chicago Rockford International Airport in Rockford, Illinois, Spirit of St. Louis Airport in St. Louis, Missouri, and Toronto Pearson International Airport in Toronto, Ontario, Canada (with some services stopping at Willow Run Airport in Ypsilanti, Michigan) for Chrysler Corporation personnel and also sells places on these services to the general public. Oakland County International Airport has been a major airline operator in the past.

Saab 340 and Baye Jetstream 31 Propane planes performed these services in 30 and 19 seat configuration respectively. National Airlines had two Douglas DC-8-63CF's (N921R/N865F) and one Douglas DC-8-71F (N872CA) in service and charter on the freight side world-wide and later substituted one of the DC-8-63CF's with a DC-8-73F (N155CA).

In April 2009, the airline began freight services from Ypsilanti, Michigan, to Bagram Air Force Base in Afghanistan; in August this year, the services were expanded to Kandahar International Airport. 4 ] This air traffic control system was terminated in 2010 and the last working DC-8 with National was completed in May 2012.

During May 2011, National chartered a Boeing 757-200 in all-passenger configurations and began operations on an on-demand charter from Dubai. Early in 2013, the carrier added a second Boeing 757, which was also used for charter in Dubai. Initially located at Willow Run Airport in Ypsilanti, Michigan, the business relocated to Orlando Sanford International Airport in 2013.

With National Airlines we have operated regular services to the following destinations: At April 29, 2013, at about 15:30 Afghanistan hour (23:00 UTC), National Airlines lost Air 102, a Boeing 747-400, registered aircraft #949CA, which performs a charter freight service for governing coalition troops, shortly after take-off from Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan.
