The purchase or charter of an aircraft can be very costly. And the price of a brand-new private jet is between $3 million and $90 million. Private jet fares are calculated by the hours. Fares depend on jet capacity, duration and number of passenger. Costs typically range from $1,674 to $8,640 per class per person per day to rent a private jet. Hiring a jet for a whole week-end can be $100,000 or more.

Except if you are spending at least 150 hrs a year on flies, hiring is probably a better alternative than purchasing. A further possibility to travel on a private jet without owning one is to buy a private jet as an investment in a private airline member. Here, instead of hiring the whole jet, locals are paying for a one-seater aircraft seating.
