Families compelled to make an additional $4,000 for new fares after Air Canada suspended them from the game.

Toronto based Toronto based couple wants replies after Air Canada has suspended them from their flights, which forces them to pay an additional $4,000 for new ticket to take the same next one. "They are not willing to admit that they are wrong," says Shanty Thivakaran. The torture of her familiy began on June 27 when Thivakaran, her wife Thiva Maheswaran, their two young children and Maheswaran's dam came to Pearson Toronto International Airfield in Pearson.

Says they showed up about 2.5 hrs before their Air Canada plane to London. They have been chartered from London to Sri Lanka for a holiday with Air India. However, their itineraries began to disintegrate when an Air Canada representative led the host familiy to the incorrect check-in line.

Approximately one hours and 40 min before take-off, they were diverted to the right line, where they observed three front row travellers check-in for the London plane. However, an operative began to check the five-member familiy, but quit when a supervisor declared: "A five-member familiy is a taboo," Thivakaran says.

" Families thought the airplane was booked over and she had been pushed. There was no reason why any of them were never invited to the house. I never felt so helpless" Instead, the familiy was led to a ticket line where they were expecting an Air Canada representative to change their booking. Then Air Canada led the familiy to another check-in operative who said they couldn't help because they weren't educated on ticketting.

"I didn't know whether to smile or cry at the time," says Thivakaran. "She says that the same executive they were dealing with before said they should go home and that Air Canada should have no trouble booking them the next night on another plane. At 12:45, the host familiy departed the airfield and arrived at 9:00 the next morrow.

On this occasion they were standing on the ticket line for two long hrs, but when they could talk to an operative, she said she couldn't help them. In Thivakaran's words, the operative said to her that the couple was referred to as "No-Show", which means she did not show up for her plane the night before.

It also said that since the ticket was bought through a tourist office and labelled as a "private fare", it would have to ask the office to solve the issue. Families found the statement bewildering. "Rightly, I have payed for this ticket. Thivakaran says, "I didn't buy it on the illegal shelves.

Thivakaran and her wife went to their agency the same time. You say that he was also amazed why Air Canada not only rebooked the plane of the whole team. Said to the pair that their only options were to get a reimbursement and make another booking themselves.

Authorized to arrange the reimbursement and sell the five new seats to the couple on one plane for that date, again with Air Canada to London and then with another carrier to Sri Lanka. You had to foot additional exchange charges as well as the additional costs for last-minute passes. Eighty-three more than the costs of their initial ticket.

"That' s cash we worked really hard to make, and there's no need to get screwed," Thivakaran says. Thivakaran appealed to Air Canada after the family's return from holiday and applied for indemnity. Airlines were offering them a 25% discount on their next Air Canada reservation "as a courtesy".

" "Thivakaran says I just smoked." "They just found out that their trip plan covers the $1,350 they spend on exchange charges. Eighty-three they bought for their last-minute passes. You also want an Air Canada excuse and a full statement for your mayhem. "I will never again be traveling with Air Canada," says Thivakaran.

"If I was on my deathbed and needed immediate medical attention in the U.S., I'd rather be dead than flying Air Canada."
