When it comes to your comforts and a comfortable journey, one of the greatest problems is where you sit: how much leg room the chair has, how broad it is and how much storage room there is above you for your hand baggage. Others might consider trying to prevent the central seating in a group of three, getting the preferences for a windows or gangway seating, and seated near the front of the section so you can get out more quickly.

Deciding on a good seating position makes the whole trip much better. Today, thanks to the use of the web, travellers have more choice of seats to choose from than ever before, as they can get lots of inside information from sites dealing with all types of seating facts.

Choosing the best Economy Class seating can be bewildering, and we try to give advice and help. A number of airline companies launch food service from the front of the cab, some from the center and some from the back of the cab! Gang, center or window seats? The least favoured position in most cases is the center position - especially for airline companies where the center section of the seats could offer a 5 across the floor plan - so if you are drawing the center position, you need to ask two people to move each times you want to extend your feet, use the laundry room, etc.!

When you want to get on the plane and get to bed with as few disturbances as possible, a windows is the best choice - you also sit against the outside cabins instead of sleeping on your comrades. However, keep in mind that the cabins of some planes have greater curvatures than others, and the windows might look like they have less space on their shoulders than normal seats.

Walking in the hallway provides simple entry to the tour, but you should remember that you could go up and down for the rider sitting next to you. Gang seats can also be susceptible to shocks and jolts when passing or trying to pass cab cars - you can often find out in a gang chair how ruthless some of your travel companions can really be!

Output line or tartan fit? The majority of carriers now levy an extra tax to get into the departure seats, others distribute them at check-in (note that some carriers still prefer these seats for much larger passengers!). You' ll get a whole bunch more leg room in an initial position, but on the other hand there are a few points you should keep in mind.

It is not permitted to store carry-on baggage (including book, etc.) in your seat/footwell during take-off and take-off times, and since the containers above your seats are full by that point in your flight, you must expect a co-operative cab crews to take these things from you at those times and give them back after take-off and take-off!

A further important point with the expanded room around the exits is that on some trips you may find that people from elsewhere in the cab determine that this is a good place to meet and talk, do their stretch training, etc., and that it can therefore be a rather bustling place.

It' always a good idea to pay attention to the central row of seats in the plane, which look as if there is a great deal of leg room - this may be the case, but you can see that the desired place in front of you is used as a cab transition when people go into the washing rooms, etc.

In the dark / sleeping seasons you can also get tired of the incidence of lights each times a passenger opens the laundry room doors - and similar to some bulkhead/exit seating position you will notice that many people often munch around your seating area while queuing for the laundry room.

Sitting next to or opposite the galley areas can also be a poor option - you will find that footfall ( cabins and passengers) is much higher, drapes cannot always be kept closed so that you can easily enter, and as much as the personnel may try, the food preparations and releases will make the kitchens quite loud for these flying times.

In many long-range airplanes, some travellers will find that their foot space (i.e. the area under the front seat) is affected by the position of the IFE (Inflight Entertainment) controller. It is something that is progressively being modified and enhanced by seating providers, but does not require rapid results.

The IFE controller may be placed in the footrest of the gangway seats on many airline routes, although on some routes the windows or the centre seats suffer, so there are no quick and tough regulations here. The airline's Pitchguides will give you an idea of how much leg room you can count on.

On long range routes, economies of scale generally provide a 31 to 32 inch tilt (industry standard), while a smaller number of carriers provide a 33 to 35 inch tilt. However, the higher the inclination, the smaller the number of seats that an airline can install in the aircraft cab, so it is unlikely that in today's business climate airline seating levels will rise!

It' s important to recall that newer "slim" seats mean that a 32-inch seating distance can provide as much room for your legs as an older seating model can provide in a 34-inch seating distance. Newer " slim " seats introducing some airline companies can easily distort the seating tilt dimensions - a 32 inches tilt with a new, slim chair can provide as much " private " room as an older 33 inches chair - so the verdict is not inaccurate.

Lines 38 and 47 are the major exits, so plenty of leg room, but in line with our previous warning, you may find the laundry and kitchen areas in the immediate vicinity to be somewhat inconvenient. Unanimously our crew chose the places A or B, H or B in the 31-34 ranks for this plane.

At the other end, you are at the calmest end of the cab, among the first to depart at your final destinations, and are faced with a good option to get the full range of food. Bathrooms are all directed to the back so there are no smells or queues for occupants in the vicinity. Conversely, if the cradle seats in the 29/30 series are fully loaded with baby-beds, there is a possibility of casual weeping etc. - so a good noise-suppressing earpiece would be a must.

Although the ventilation in the cab varies by type of airplane and airline, our staff also notes that the front end of the cab is generally better and less susceptible to fluctuations in heat and coldness temperatures further back in the Cab.
