In any case, I was reassured that I would have the same place, but it could be differently numerated........ However, I have flown with George.... we once with US Air (and NEVER ever again) where they have neglected to give a certified number of seats for all of us (5 people fly, only 3 certified numbers of seats),,,,,,,,, we were all pushed into PHX.

Even if you do not purchase directly from the carrier, you can still use the verification number on the carrier's website to register and make changes. The case here was slightly different, but generally you can always checked in/exchange via the airline's website as soon as you have your Expedia/Orbitz verification number or another on-line booking page you are using.

CCaboHooligan - The only thing more disappointing than not being able to select the place to stay is when the carrier changes places and doesn't inform you. We' ve been booking Delta for last year -- the carrier has made five changes to schedules, services, seats and aircraft types.

So from now on, if there's no other choice but Delta, I'm going to fly another carrier.
