Apple Store

Apple's first store was initially opened in May 2001 by then-director Steve Jobs as two sites after years of trying to run a store within a store, but failed.

Recognizing the need for enhanced visibility of the company's product in retailing, he began revising the retailing programme in 1997 to achieve a better consumer experience and recruited Ron Johnson in 2000. In 1997 Jobs re-launched Apple's on-line shop and opened its first two shops in 2001.

In spite of early speculations in the press that Apple would fall through, the deals were very prosperous, exceeding local competitor store leads and generating $1 billion in revenue in three years, making them the quickest retailers in record time. Throughout the years, Apple has extended the number of store sites and its geographic reach to 504 shops in 24 markets around the world by 2018.

Heavy selling has made Apple one of the leading retailers, with 2011 revenues in excess of $16 billion worldwide. Ahrendts, Apple's Senior Vice President of retail, revealed a completely revamped Apple Store on Union Square, San Francisco, in May 2016, with large glazed entrance doorways, open and branded rooms.

As well as buying merchandise, customers can seek guidance and help from Adobe Pros - those with specialist expertise in creating art; providing assistance in a tree-lined Genius Grove; and attending meetings, conventions, and social gatherings, with Ahrendts saying that the aim is to turn Apple Stores into "city squares," a place where humans get together and hang out in a natural way.

And the new look will be adopted for all Apple Retail outlets around the world, a temporary relocation or closure proces. While many Apple Retail Centers are housed in retail centers, Apple has established several independent retail "flagship" shops in high-profile location. She has been awarded numerous industrial property rights and architecture prizes for the creation and building of her shops, particularly for the use of stairs and glazed ceilings.

Apple Store sucess has had a significant impact on other home entertainment retailer's who have been losing sales, controls and profit due to higher levels of customer experience and higher levels of customer satisfaction. Apple's remarkable fidelity to the Apple label among customers leads to long queues of thousands of customers opening new Apple stores or releasing new Apple merchandise.

Because of the brand's appeal, Apple is receiving a large number of resumes, many from young people. While Apple Store staff are paid above-average wages, educational and healthcare funds, and rebates on products, there are few or no opportunities for professional development.
