Eight businesses request taxi service in Manila

R&E, MGE taxi services join the GPS-enabled reservation system.

The R&E and MGE taxi operators have signed up to the GPS-enabled reservation system, which allows travellers to call a taxi using a digital call via a portable device. As with other taxi reservation software, R&E and MGE use their own portable software to make reservations and allocate them to the closest available taxi in the region.

Fitted with Global Positioning Systems (GPS), taxi riders can make reservations on the basis of information from the portable application. With reference to the R&E application, prior to making a reservation the passenger must give the necessary information such as name, cell phone number, pick-up location, pick-up point and arrival point. Reservation detail will then be shown on the Status page of the application.

Once a taxi has been allocated to a customer, the reservation progress is refreshed with the taxi detail and expected ETA. The R&E collects an extra PhP 50 on the measured ticket price when a person uses their portable reservation application.

MGE' s application, on the other handed, demands that users login with their Facebook or Google email accounts. In this case, the passenger must specify both the pick-up point and the final point. Once this information has been entered, the approximate travel route and price will blink on your portable display.

Your taxi driver's name and photograph will be displayed as soon as your reservation is completed. Moreover, MGE says that its riders will not be able to see the intended goal of each and every customer to eliminate the system of contractual tariffs. MGE Taxi's Paolo Enriquez said that travelers can notify chauffeurs who agree tariffs.

"Enriquez said, "We are encouraging travellers to notify us if they agree to pay fare to take appropriate sanctions. MGE does not charge a reservation charge in this context to discourage clients from using their application. In addition, reservations are handled via the MGE application from EMP, Green Taxi and MGE, while the R&E application from Nine Stars, Sturdy, EFE and R&E is handled by R&E.
