A Taxi Driver

Taxi driver

Kim Man-Seob (Song Kang-Ho) fights in Seoul, South Korea, to make ends meet as a taxi driver and at the same time take care of his daughter. Synopsis[edit] The A Taxi Driver (Hangul: ????

?; Hanja: ?????; RR: Taeksi Unjeonsa) is a historic action [3]drama movie by Jang Hoon from the year 2017, in which Song Kang-ho plays the lead part next to Thomas Kretschmann. 4 ][5] The focus of the movie is a taxi driver from Seoul who inadvertently interferes in the happenings of the 1980 Gwangju democratization movement.

Kim Man-seob is a widow in 1980 and works as a taxi driver in Seoul. He hears another taxi driver talk one morning about a customer from abroad who has reserved him for a journey of 100,000 won; the customer plans to go to Gwangju for that date and go back to Seoul before embargo.

One hurries away to rob the customer. Peter is lured into his taxi before he goes on to Gwangju. They try to persuade Peter that they should go back to Seoul, but the latter refused to give the 100,000 won if they don't get to Gwangju. He rejects the gravity of the city's state, believing that the unrest was brought about by insurgent student leaders.

They decide to turn back and hesitate to get their taxi hurt during the unrest. Pete and the kids are scolding Man-seob for his egotism. them refusing to make Peter Man-Seob paid until he has completed the arranged journey. Gwangju is the destination for Peter and Jae-sik (now as translators).

Man-seob's taxi collapses that night and they are received by Tae-soo, one of the locals taximen. So Tae-soo takes the cab to his garage for repairs. This, and the fact that Gwangju's telephone wires were broken, shocks Man-Seob as his little girl is home alone. One-seob is attacked by the DSC commander, who reproaches the driver for being a comunist.

and the couple runs back to Tae-soo's place. Tae-soo Man-seob gives faked Gwangju licence numbers at dusk, while the troops are now looking for a taxi in Seoul. Alone, Man-seob travels to the near-by city of Suncheon, where he eavesdrops on accounts of the Gwangju incident; the press mistakenly claim that the mess was created by "rogue groups and rioters".

Surprised by feelings of debt, he goes to the Gwangju infirmary to find Peter shocked and Tae-soo weeping over Jae Sik's body. They' re filming a road where merciless troops are firing at a civilian. The Man-seob and the other taxi riders use their cars to prevent the soldier from further damaging the civilian.

He declares that he is leading a business man out of the turbulence. This couple is saved by the locals who drive into the army cars to divert the warriors. Tae-soo eventually offers himself in order to get away from Man-seob and Peter.

Pete asks Man-seob for his name and telephone number as he wants to go back to South Korea. Man is hesitant, but he does. Pete is sharing the material with his supervisors and the message is spreading all over the globe. Looking for Kim Man-seob as "Kim Sa-bok" just to find out that he gave a wrong name and number.

Seoul is a place where Man-seob joins his wife and child together. Still a taxi driver, Man-seob finds a paper left by a client, rereads the story of Peter's talk and accomplishments, includes his words of thanks to him, and is moved by these words. According to the postscript, Peter tried to look for the taxi driver who led him through Gwangju, but he passed away in 2016 before they could see each other again.
