COMCAST, Charter Form Mobile Platform Partnership Now Comcast and Charter Communications have entered into a collaboration for portable platforms focused on the creation and creation of back-end solutions that provide both Xfinity and Spectrum Mobility services. Relationship stories began to appear at the end of last year as MSOs continue to negotiate a deal in which they exchange information and technologies but keep their products separated.

They said on Friday that the relationship will actually allow each business to build their own brand, product and business offerings. We will also cultivate our own relationship with equipment manufacturers and customize other elements such as servicing, merchandising, sales, price and packing. You said the deal will allow "the cost-effective development of an effective and scaleable enterprise back-end system and application development solution that supports each company's enterprise mobility selling and supporting infrastructure, equipment supply chain and storage, and invoicing.

She added that the relationship will leverage components of the operational framework that Comcast originally created for Xfinity mobile.

Thereafter, the parties will finance the business activities of the partner in equal shares. A four-member BoD of Director heads the relationship, with two Director Representatives each from Comcast and Charter. Headquartered in Philadelphia, Comcast staff will support the evolution of the technology in the name of both organizations.

This will result in an operational environment that will also act as a system gateway for present and prospective operators of MVNOs (Mobile Virtual Networks Operators). Comcast introduced Xfinity Wireless over its mobile communications provider with Verizon Wireless nearly a year ago. In the fourth quarter of 2017, Comcast added 187,000 Xfinity Mobil subscribers and closed the year with more than 380,000.

Later this year, Charter is planning to introduce a wireless communications solution using its Verizon contract with Verizon and the MSO's own WiFi infrastructure.
