Package 9 Last Minutes December

Airfare is higher in December, but with so many L.A. departures, you should find cheap rates. Escape the hustle and bustle of Beverly Hills and West Hollywood and spend less than $200 at the new and contemporary The Line Hotel in Korea's trendiest city, L.A.'s closest neighbour.

Vacancy rates change every day, but if you are looking for a holiday after Christmas, you should visit the luxury rooms at Luxury Blue House in Playa Del Carmen with rooms under $300. You can also visit your favourite Rivera Maya website and see what's available. They won't find huge rebates around Christmas, but the US-Canada currency rates are cheap for Americans, so British Columbia may be more tempting for skiing than it was a few years ago.

When you feel like adventure, make a $500 return trip with Philippine Airlines from JFK, even between Christmas and New Year. Whistler's beloved skiing area is almost booked out by the end of December, but you can try the Hilton Whistler Resort & Spa, with some rooms for $500 a nights that can be booked on third-party websites.

However, London is pulsating on public holiday, and it is a cheaper last minute plane from the East Coast. Travel non-stop by New York bus with several carriers for about $900 return or with the all-business classic LaCompagnie, which has a "Winter Madness in London" deal that gives you two return fares for a combined $2,500.

We recommend the Christmas offer at St. Martins Lane London for accommodation. About $430 per overnight stay gives you an excellent British buffet and a three-course Christmas dinner for two. And if you love Hipsters, try Shoreditch's Ace Hotel and its Christmas Shop Bundle, which offers room upgrades, grocery and drink vouchers, and 15 per cent discounts at some of the stores in East London's most trendy neighbourhood.

$475 will buy you a night in Las Alcobas, a 35-room classy Boutique in the trendy Polanco neighborhood and Mexico's best hotels in 2015, according to Conde Nast Traveler magazine readership. Air fares from California are generally lower than from the East Coast, so this could be a better escape from L.A. or San Francisco than New York.

At the end of December, New York's home carrier will be offering up to seven JFK departures per day, and more places will generally mean lower fare. There are no big rebates - a return flight could be $700 or more according to the date - but Santo Domingo should be less expensive than Nassau, Bahamas or Montego Bay, Jamaica.

Santo Domingo is not known for luxurious resort properties. Booking at the new JW Marriott for about $260 or try Hostal Nicolas De Ovando, a 104-room store in the Colonial Quarter of Santo Domingo that is available many nights for about $200. As of L.A., you'll be flying Alaska Airlines for less than $300 by the end of December, according to date.

New York planes are much more expensive, but you should fly to L.A. and rent a rental vehicle. However, make your own planning soon, as the number of hotels is thin. The last cheque for a Queen Berth Room at the Mammoth Mountain Inn between Christmas and New Year was $299. They call December the Cabernet Season in Wine Country Northern California.

" There' s a certain amount of spinning here because December, one of the colder month of the year, is not the ideal season to go to Napa. You can still travel from New York for approximately $600 on JetBlue or Caribbean Airlines, subject to your schedule. Hyatt Regency Trinidad ($199 per night) is more of a commercial resort, but it is located on the Gulf of Paria and has ocean views from many rooms.
