The journey time to Southern Cross Station ranges from 20 - 35 min. SkiBus has a Wi-Fi on aboard and a shuttleservice from the Southern Cross Station to most major downtown destinations, such as Southbank and Docklands. It is recommended that you allow 1.5 hour when picking up from your accommodation and driving to the airport.
A number of shuttles also run directly from the airport to downtown hotel stops, thus preventing transfers at Southern Cross Station. You are leaving the L departures zone, which is a 50 meter footpath from the SkyBus point of departures outside the arrival area of the Multinational Terminals (see link map).
Scheduled shuttles cover a much larger downtown area than the sky bus, so they can be useful for those who do not want to stay in CBD or transfer at Southern Cross Station. Starbus and VHA Airport are two of the shuttles serving the outskirts: 20 to 90 dollars.
Transportation: The use of local transportation requires little amount of patience and work, but the cost of using the Myki Map is low. PTV (Public transport Victoria) buses are close to Terminal 4 and are often difficult to find. At the airport, there is little information about means of transportation.
One interesting and cost-effective way to get from Melbourne airport to the capital is to take buses and trains. From Broadmeadows railway terminal, take the 901 coach (journey time approx 20 minutes) and get on the 40-minute journey to Flinders Street (Melbourne Cultural Centre Commercial District). Buses 478, 479 or 482 run from the Melbourne Airport stop near Terminal 4 to the Airport West Shopping Centre, located near the city's 59 streetcar stations.
Passengers linking to Bendigo can take the 479 to Sunbury railway terminal and take a V/Line from there. For full particulars of the Melbourne Airport local transit busses, please visit http://ptv.vic.gov. au/getting-around/..... Compare costs and time: In the order of driving distance to downtown areas, a taxi is the quickest (approx. 20 - 30 minutes), followed by shuttles (25-60 minutes) and 1 - 1.5 hour trips to local transportation.
Regarding costs, means of transportation are the least expensive ($6), followed by Skybus and citybuses (about $19), then a taxi (about $50-$65). The Southern Cross Rail is a large railway terminal in the CBD with direct rail links to all rail targets, covering local and international services, good Melbourne connections, tourism information, busses, taxi services, travel assistance, etc.
Melbourne's popular "smart card" fares system is Myki and can be bewildering for travelers and occasional people. It is a good Idea to buy a Myki-Map online before you visit Melbourne. Myki tickets can be bought at the airport by taking the 901 to Broadmeadows for $6 and also in a visitor package available at the Skybus stand (Terminal 1).
Any visitor who would like to buy a "full price" (adult) copy of Sky or would like to increase their existing Sky balance can do so at a Sky vending terminal on the groundfloor of 2 T', near the northern end restrooms, near 1.Full Sky at Public Transport Victoria. When you are planning to go around, you can rent a rental vehicle at the airport from one of several providers such as Enterprises, Redspot, Avis, Budget, Hertz and Thrifty.
Driving into the town is via CityLink. Itineraries to the town and other important centers, Geelong (and then the Great Ocean Road), Bendigo and Ballarat are easy. On Phillip Island, go towards the town, but keep to the CityLink motorway and avoid the main circuit (CBD). Keep in mind that many downtown resorts require an additional fee for car park use.
The Melbourne Airport cooperates with the initial taxi driver. com (taxi share). Immediately this can find a boyfriend with whom you can split in all the outskirts, and 30% to 75% of the cost of a taxi can be saved. They can also use Joséats from the Melbourne Airport Route Shared page. Local buses: A further local coach service from Melbourne Airport (bus stop in front of Terminals 1) via the rare 479/478 to Sunbury (on the Bendigo line) and the 901 to Broadmeadows (on the Seymour/Albury/Shepparton lines).
The V/Line ticket can be used at no additional cost on major city transportation (but not on the Skybus). However, they would have to be bought in anticipation (online) in order to be used by incoming arrivals from the airport. From Avalon Airport to the Southern Cross Station Coach Terminal in Melbourne, Sita busses provide transfer between Avalon Airport and the Southern Cross Station Coach Terminal for $20 per leg / $36 round trip.
With at least 48 hour advance notification, busses from town hotels and accommodations, Werribee RSL and up to 6 kilometers from the outskirts of town will also be picked up (at an extra charge). The busses are set to serve all Tiger and Jetstar routes. The taxi rate from/to Melbourne is approximately $80.
