Straatos begins work on the second 714 Personal Jet.

The development of Stratos Aircraft's personal jet 714 is accelerating, as production of the second test plane is currently under way in Redmond, Oregon, in preparations for its first deployment in mid-2018. It' s a landmark as the start-up company sets the stage for the single-engine jet for its first trip to the world's biggest meeting of the corporate airline community, the National Congress of the National Business aviation Association, to be hosted in Las Vegas, Nevada, October 10-12.

714's trade show presence follows three month after its global début at the AirVenture General Aviation Expo in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Stratos is hoping by presenting the four-seater high capacity airplane at these flagship shows to generate interest and invest in the program, for which it is targeting more than $100 million for launch.

Stratos says that since its debut in November 2016, the 714 has recorded 80 hours of proof-of-concept time in 44 missions. The Pratt & Whitney Canada JT15D-5 powered airplane achieved 320kt (590km/h) and 18,000ft airspeed during the tests. The cabin pressurization test is due to begin at the end of the year, once the plane is released for flying at 28,000 feet height, Stratos added.
