One of the best and most popular writers in Poland is Olga Tokarczuk. Recently she was the first writer in Poland to be awarded the Man Booker International Prize, and she has twice been awarded Poland's highest literature prize, the Nike, as well as a number of other awards.

Tokarczuk, who was educated as a Young Analyst, is the author of eight books and two collection of stories and has been translating into a hundred different nationalities. Flights (Riverhead Books), English translation by Jennifer Croft, woven from the incomparable novelist Olga Tokarczuk, reflects on travels with an in-depth investigation of the living organism, dealing with issues of living, dying, movement and migrating.

Woven with vivid, frisky and revealing reflections, Flights investigates through these brilliant imaginary figures and tales what it means to be a traveller, a wayfarer, a moving human being, not just through outer spaces, but through the ages. Charming, disturbing and completely inventive, Flights is the response of a masterful story-teller.
