ACCAB is an unbiased, neutral, international as well as non-governmental organisation providing quality assurance according to accepted industry standard for companies providing quality assurance, test, verification, inspection and/or verification activities. With the global directory of companies that have been awarded certification by ACCAB-approved certification bodies, ACCAB provides a parallel validation facility for ACCAB-accredited certifications to all stakeholders of the ACCAB accreditation scheme, global business and consumer communities. ACCAB shall maintain the Global Directory of the Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs) approved by ACCAB.

It is the exclusive aim of this register to make available to all stakeholders of the ACCAB accreditation regime, the Global Communities of Businesses and Consumers a validation facility for the ACCAB conformity assessment bodies. The ACCAB works in accordance with the specifications, criterias, rules und prescriptions set out in the following documents:

ACCAB' s Board of Directors has overall competence and accountability for the guidelines and processes for the operation of ACCAB. ACCAB' s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for the implementation of ACCAB's guidelines and processes. ACCAB' s power shall be that conferred on them by the conformity assessment body or other organisation which it accredits and acknowledges by assuring the requesting and acclaimed body that it supports the ACCAB' s task and aims and ensures that its activities comply with this Directive.

ACCAB was put into operation in September 2010.
