Citation Jet is the ideal jet for those looking for a starter class personal jet. Conceived to be highly cost-effective in terms of both cost and running cost, the CJ's system is straightforward, making it easier to be flown and operated by a sole aviator. Elevated airspeed due to lower wing air resistance is complemented by the airspeed of two Williams/Rolls-Royce FJ44-1A thrusters. Williams / Rolls Royce produced marching missile motors and could make motors that produced 1,900 lbs of thrusts each while being sufficiently lightweight and streamlined for the CJ.

FJ44 thrusters were streamlined to have one third of the movable parts that most thrusters had at the times, and they consumed about 30% less propellant than similar thrusters. Citation Jet has good capabilities for fast runways and requires only 3,080 ft to take off at ocean altitude and 5,710 ft to take off from a 5,000 ft airstrip.
