The FBO profile: <font color="#ffff00" size=14> ; International news from the aviation industry

In the same year the former U.S. Navy Navy World War II pilots and later Eastern Airlines mechanics Guy Hill Sr. purchased a lease at the Fulton County Airport-Brown Field (FTY) in Atlanta and founded Hill Aircraft and Leasing. Six ty years later, the exempt private company becomes strongly known as FBO, which provides Georgia International with a comprehensive range of aircraft related activities, such as aircraft sale, servicing, chartering, and managing.

Atlanta's oldest FBO, the airline moves into its second facility, which was completed in 1978 and restored in 2005 in time for Hill Aircraft's 2005 centenary. Situated between two 20,000 square metre halls, the two-storey facility has an area of 12,000 square feet, and in honour of this year's jubilee, the firm has restored the After Sales Department and one of its adjacent sheds.

In addition to the office space, the terminals offer a customer lobby/lounge, a pilot suite with wide-screen TV and a theatre seat for scheduling flights, a slumber room, showers, concierge services, replacement vehicles, a shopping centre, local auto hire and three meeting rooms (eight, ten and twelve seats), the biggest of which is fitted with A/V. Whereas newly cracked corn is now widespread in Feds all over the state, Hill claimed to be one of the first to offer pleasure to travellers and crew.

FBO is open seven nights a week from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., with a call out facility available after work and used quite often. "Georgia has only two 24/7 check towers," said Larry Westbrook, chairman of the firm, to AIN. "Customs and immigration processing in the USA is also available around the clock with one day's prior notification.

One of two contractors who share the FTY shop in equal parts, the establishment covers 23 hectares at the FTY with enough platform area to hold the NBAA's 2007 Atlanta Congress exhibition. With an indoor area of 200,000 square feet, it can accommodate aircraft up to a G450.

Mr. Westbrook explained to AIN that the airline is planning to build another 22,500 square meter hanger within the next 24 to 36 month to house the latest ultra-long-range biz jets. From a Challenger 604 to a King Air 90, Hill Aircraft accommodates 40 turbine-powered aircraft. The facility is serviced by a three tier tanker fleet (a couple of 3,000 gallon A3 and a 1,000 gallon AVG T) serviced by NATA Safety-trained first line engineers who are part of the company's 34 full-time and 10 part-time personnel.

This year' s deal was'excellent', Westbrook said, undoubtedly the best after the meagre years following the recession. The shop tends to be more busy in early and late autumn, but most of the transport in Hill's is commercial and not seasonally. Some of the landmark activities that drive the site's travel include fairs at the Georgia World Congress Center near by, sales meetings at the Atlanta-based Home Depot (which operates its flying division in FTY), and the SEC Championship match of Collegiate Golf at the Georgia Dome.

They operate an FAA Part 145 workshop and a parts workshop. Mainly it works with Citations, Learjets and King Airs and can carry out larger inspection, but it will also take care of scheduled servicing on all corporate aircraft. Whilst the company's guiding principle is "to serve the aerospace industry as professionally as possible while preserving our Integrity, offering cost-effective value to our clients and enhancing the life of our people and the community", Westbrook, who has been with the organisation for 34 years, puts his dedication to serving the needs of the airline industry even more clearly.

"He said, the client is king."
