Getting around in a private plane

Lewis first became addicted to cheap private jets when he saw a deals that offered four passengers on a plane ride from his Los Angeles based Los Angeles Los Angeles airport on an Embraer Phenom 100 for only $500 plus taxes. Bargain offers come from so-called "empty legs" or "empty sectors". VICTORIA has more than 100 carriers, most notably in Europe, where more than 600,000 private plane and turboprop flights take place every year - 200,000 of them probably without passenger.

VICTORIA usually has around 200 empty legs available, but they are not the eye-catching deals JetSuite has to offer. For example, Victor's website recently showed a six-seater aircraft contract that flew three and a half nights later from Bristol in the South West of England to the Spain Isle of Mallorca for £3,630 ($6,386).

Victor Sir of Ops Mike Ryan says the full cost of chartering the same flights is between £9,000 and £10,000 ($15,000 to $16,000). "Some of the kind of individuals we find with empty feet are already experienced private air travelers who know the system. Whilst it could be more luxury than being squeezed into a bus cab with a business carrier, private aviation is not entirely risk-free.

Even though statistical data show that all types of flight are safe than traveling by air, private jet aircraft are not regulated to the same degree as corporate carriers. To qualify for professional charter, the aircraft must have an Air Operator Certificate awarded by the relevant civil aviation authorities. Remember that some companies make offers that are not really available. Occasionally, the operator will take advantage of your interest in traveling with private jets and then try to resell you full fare flights in a traditional lure and counter to let you know that the announced deal has already been made.
