I' ve learned some lesson from my year and to make it easy for you, we have prepared this manual to help you plan your year. Which is a Round the World Ticket? One of the cheapest ways to go international is to buy a round-the-world ticket or a plane ticket (usually called RTW).

Instead of purchasing single trips to more than one country, you buy a ticket that covers more than one destination over a certain timeframe. As a rule, R&TW fares less than if you bought the ticket and more than one long-haul ticket, e.g. a roundtrip from London to Sydney.

A Round the World Ticket is a good concept? They are not inexpensive to buy in one train, but if you visit several different destinations and travel around the world, a skilfully designed ticket will offer great value for your money. What's more, you'll be able to travel around the world at the same time. Your ticket is also for one year and you can modify your details within that year.

I was supposed to go from Singapore to Sydney, for example, but postpone my trip because I wanted to stay longer in Asia. What does an RTW ticket costs? A lot of variable factors influence the costs of an RTW trip, including the cabin in which you are flying, the number of miles traveled (on Star Alliance), the number of sectors or continents visited, the number of stops you make, and the country you are visiting.

Around the world ticketing can begin from £1250+ for something simple like UK > Dubai > Auckland > Los Angeles > UK and increase costs along with increasing sophistication. The oldest and largest carrier with 28 carriers in 195 nations and 1,328 destinations. Star Allianz - The oldest and largest carrier network. You have some really useful utilities for scheduling a world tour, such as your own routing chart (this utility is dynamic and a must) and the Star Alliance Navigator app.

With this ticket you can make up to 16 departures and 15 stops. Within a given area you can go backwards, e.g. from Singapore to Sydney, Sydney to Perth, Perth to Auckland (but you could not return to Africa). Here is a trip around the world, which I compiled with the help of this little bit.

There are also two cross-country sections: Bangkok to Singapore and Cairns to Sydney. is a 12-year coalition of airlines, among them British Airways and American Airlines. Our network has more than 150 country and 800 destination sites. There are two different kinds of ticket available around the world: Global Explorer and Explorer.

Onworld Explorer is a continental platform around the world ticket. Ticket prices depend on your travelling category and the number of on-eworld destinations you are visiting or crossing (this will include your home region and any destination you are transferring to). You must book all your services within 330 workingdays from the date you originally made your reservation and, as with Star Alliance, your journey must be completed within 12 month of your departure date.

With this ticket you can go within a single country, but you must go from country to country in one way and crossing the Atlantic and Pacific only once. Ticket sales range from three to six continents, but three are only available in the North. Traveling by land between two aerodromes is considered one leg (16 sections are allowed), but the biggest advantage is that there are no kilometer-limits!

Sample one world explorer four-continent itinerary: Global Explorer ticket from one world opens a few more door. Onworld Explorer tickets are limited to the 12 full members of the OWEAA. The Global Explorer ticket, however, does include a number of other carriers such as Fiji Airways, Jetstar and Qantas to offer you more options.

Global Explorer tickets are also kilometre-dependent. Like your ticket, you can have up to 16 sections, of which the ground route between two aerodromes is counted as a section and the number of kilometres is in. It is also a 12-month ticket and all locations you wish to visit must be specified when purchasing your ticket.

For example, Global Explorer 34,000 miles itinerary: Fly around the world - don't let us restrict you! Two things to keep in mind with your ticket for the RTW. Terrestrial sector means that you can go over land... as you please. That means you can go travelling in a particular area and don't have to be worried about falling back on yourself.

So for example, I went to Christchurch in my own Gap Year and made the Kiwi experience in New Zealand, finished it in Auckland and then went on to Fiji. Also, I have chosen a surfacing between Bangkok and Singapore. In order to get there, I made a turn through Southeast Asia, took North Thailand, Laos, Vietnam (didn't make it to Cambodia, long history), Malaysia and then came to Singapore to take my plane to Sydney.

Airline alliance does not involve low cost carriers, but that does not mean you should forgo them! Sitting in a Singapore hostel (The InnCrowd in Little India, great place), I didn't get the feeling I was done with Asia yet. Indonesia was starting to come to my mind, but much of it was still recovered from an earth quake.

They had a fl ash sales on Singapore to Bali planes.... it turned out that they are returning £30!!! I postponed my trip around the world and went to Bali for one whole weekend to go surfing and partying.

After that I went back to Singapore and boarded my next plane to Australia the next one. Low cost carriers really open the door for you if you want to travel within a particular county or area. I had my own Round the World ticket which involved a plane to Sydney and from Melbourne. Actually, what really did happen was that I traveled up the coastline, from Cairns to Melbourne, back to Sydney, to Adelaide and then to Melbourne to go to New Zealand.

Just think, I would have tried to put those planes on my round-the-world ticket! Below are a few low cost carriers that you should consider in your world maps. Take a flight anywhere on your world ticket, but then use the cheap airline companies to travel to other places. SkyScanner is the simplest way to search for these flight types.

It is a flying genset, i.e. you can look for planes with several carriers in one operation, making it a very comfortable one. With so many possibilities for flying around the world, we'll give you a few samples to help you get started: Purchasing a multi-stop ticket is an option to purchasing a circumnavigation ticket.

With AirTreks, you can combine your global ticketing and your global multi-destination travel by bundling more than one ticket into one ticket for you. Receive discount fares directly from airline companies and work with consolidation partners around the world to build a customized ticket pack. Of course, this is different from airline alliances ticketing, which is created on the basis of the number of kilometers or the number of continences you want to visit.

Reduced ticket prices apply, but you need to set certain deadlines for your trip. This might seem restricted, but these issues can be more agile. So you can, for example, go as long as you want. You can only book up to 330 day in advance of your flight (because they are cleared so long in advance by the airline companies), but you can always buy half of your ticket before departure and the remainder when you're on the move, circumventing the 12-month limit imposed on you by the circumnavigation.

It also has the added advantage that AirTreks are not limited to a group of carriers as it is an ally. You can look for low cost and directly operated flight from any carrier. After all, with this kind of ticket you are not limited to a certain number of stops in a certain geographic area and you have no problems with your tracking.

AirTreks is a great place to visit if you don't want to go around the world, but want to circumnavigate a few different parts of the world and then return. Do not fly during peaks such as the two week period around Christmas and New Year. When you go to China, think of things like Chinese New Year and the flight to a Moslem land around Sugar Festival will also lead to higher ticket rates.

Think about purchasing a major online shopping cart that will give you recurring airline earning points and use them to buy your ticket. Please consider circumnavigating the world from another land. Take off from another land and make sure your home is your last but one stop and just don't take the last one.

A ticket could be twice as expensive as an economic ticket, but it is a relatively good deal in comparison to individual discounted air travel. Their own trips to these places can take a lot of money, but within a world ticket they only pay for your miles. Keep in mind that with world ticketing, you must land in the same county and not in the same town.

So, if you're Americans, you could travel from New York, but end up in Los Angeles and buy a budget home trip to take you back to New York. Don't ever miss a trip - you will notice that all successive trips on your round-the-world ticket have been canceled.

Don't neglect to review all visas for all destinations you want to travel to, even those you might want to travel to during your overseas trips. Please also note that some jurisdictions ask you for a yellowness vaccine and the appropriate papers. There' s nothing better than taking a long-haul London to Bangkok on the first full moon of your year, driving to Khao San Road and being disoriented, jet lagged with no clue where you are going.

Don't overlook the Gap Year travel insurance.
