Lockheed developed the L-1329 as a privately held company to fulfill a later non-existent U.S.

Air Force demand, eventually developing the world's first business jet concept.

JetStar began its existence as a twin jet, but was successfully equipped with four jet thrusters. The Hawker range, probably Britain's most popular civilian aeroplane range, began as de Havilland 125 and was advertised in 1962 as the first specially developed business jet. The slim design by Bill Lear opened a new niche for high-performance business jets.

With the Learjet 23, the name became synonymous with export transportation, and this genuine model formed a dynamic force that still exists today as part of the Bombardier line. Falcon 20/200 (née Dassault-Breguet Mystère 20), the first in a long line of Dassault business aircraft, entered the then exclusive business embryo aircraft segment for the first time.

From this basic concept, the smaller trijets Falcon 10 and Falcon 50 emerged and sold more than 500 planes in a segment in which Dassault still plays an important role today with its range of twin and three-engine constructions. In 1967, when Gulfstream's first business jet, the Rolls-Royce Spey-powered G-II, came in, it introduced high power and convenience to the business jet arsenal.

A legendary series of business planes was also created, which has become more and more important. Cessna was a general aviation colossus in 1968 with the introduction of the "Fanjet 500" for part of the business jet family. This small airplane, called Citation, developed one of the most popular business jet airlines in the whole hemisphere.

Its first large-capacity business jet began as a Bill Lear mission - the LearStar 600. Following a difficult launch, a move from Avco Lycoming to General Electric Power helped the Challenger become a selling hit and establish the wide-body business aircraft business, followed by others. After Dassault had entered the long-haul open-cab segment with the Falcon 900 tripod in the mid-1980s, Dassault subsequently engineered a twin-engine derivate, the 2000.

Featuring a cruising rate of 0.92 Mach, the Citation makes your Citation Jet the quickest business jet in the entire universe and a major improvement in the reputation of your Citation series. With over 330 airplanes on the market, Cessna is expected to complete the program this year after more than two decennia of work.

Twenty years ago, when the Global Express entered the Challenger in Bombardier's line-up, it signaled the advent of the phenomena of ultra-long business jets. Even though passenger aircraft had always found their way into the business world, the introduction of the Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) 737NG derivative was the first official offer of the biz-liner familiy by the motherline Maker.

This step turned out to be so effective that the competitor Airbus reacted quickly with the start of its business jet range of ACJs. Beech's pioneering Star Business Turbo Prop, which demonstrated the design of a fully compound aircraft cabin, was the first company to use the latest business jet Premier 1 technologies in the business aviation industry.

Aeroplane was in operation for a whole ten years and achieved almost 300 sold. The visionary and former Microsoft staff member Vern Raburn pledged to introduce the automobile industry to aerospace engineering with his "Very-Light Jet " design. All this VLJ hyped up around the turn of the 20th century with his Ecolipse 500 twin jet, but then everything went awry when the financing failed and the business collapsed.

The G650 continues the Gulfstream heritage and in 2012 came as the Savannah's biggest and quickest business jet with a cruising performance of M0.925. Phenom 300 and her smaller brother and sister, the 100, laid the groundwork for Embraer's push into the business aviation industry to compete against Cessna.

Embraer had been playing in this industry until Phenom with his legacy adjustments of his local jet line. With this uniquely looking look, Honda was on a memorable trip and has entered the industry as a newcomer. Producing the world's most succesful pistons - the SR series - the company created the world's only certified single-engine business jet.

With his first jet construction, the renowned turbo-prop manufacturer Pilatus tried to resist the adversities. Backed by the best-selling PC-12 turbo-prop singles, Pilatus was able to report a large number of orders at the PC-24 launches in 2013. In 2015 the first plane took off and delivery began at the beginning of the year, after being certified in December 2017.

While clearly not a business jet, Piaggio's Avanti Corporation Turbo Prop merits particular attention in our poll, as its radically designed and high performing aircraft make its major rivals lightweight aircraft. Introduced in collaboration with Gates Learjet, the 180 was introduced in 1990 as a purely domestic aircraft and remains a contender that offers jet-specific power and cab ride quality in the turbo-prop economy.
